Introduction The year 2563, Earth is a dying ball of dust in the universe. Under one government Earth is ruled by the Lux family, a family of tyrants who believe themselves benevolent kings and gods. They have the world on its knees save The Insurgency. We fight back. -- Basics Starting Date: January 1, 2563 City: Los Angeles Beings: Humans, Androids, Cyborgs, Mages, Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, Fae, and Aliens(Humanoid). Additional beings may be proposed. These are just basic and popular ideas.Advanced The Sickness: For 50 years The Sickness has spread across the globe and taken millions of people. It is not viral and it is not bacterial and there is no cure. The Sickness is devastating affecting humans at a very young age and taking them from this world in beams of light. The Sickness always takes our youth between the ages of 8 and 21 years. Once infected the youth has about a year to live and they seem to move forward with a purpose that if denied drives them to madness. When denied their purpose the youth become violent and will go to extremes to break the chains keeping them from their goal. Within the year the youth typically dies from madness or achieves their goal. If they achieve their goal they evaporate into light and vanish into the sky. Symptoms include: A mile cough, glowing eyes, markings all over body that may or may not also be glowing, an intense desire to complete a task, possible madness, nightmares, bleeding with no cause, and psychic abilities. Lux Memorial Care Center: Constructed originally for Lux decedents to develop their talents as the dying wish or the Tyrant Lacey Lux and later adapted to be a center for the "Gifted" or non-human organic beings with special talents to further develop their abilities. Children are identified at young ages and brought into The Center and trained to work for The Lux Family. This is a nonnegotiable action and children are torn away from their families and forced to attend, often never to be reunited with their family. The young members of The Lux Family often end up attending this special school. The center is the largest building in L.A. at present and is rumored to have over 2,000 students. It is also the most protected and dangerous place in the city.

Current News Casey Lux Has The Sickness!
That is right folks you heard it! Casey Lux has The Sickness. He seems to have developed an intense desire see that the Milton Cemetery is restored. The keeper attempted to stop Young Mr. Lux and ended up in his own grave. The 10 year old boy reportedly looked at the man and he had a violent seizure before Mr. Lux went about his business in the cemetery. The Insurgence Strikes Again (Ignore Megapolis. I did not feel like cropping it out.) Late last night The Insurgence attacked the Lux Memorial Care Center. They kidnapped 12 of the occupying students including young Gracelynn Lux. Gracelynn Lux is said to have the ability to bend time to her will and could be dangerous in the hands of The Insurgence. If you see her or know anything you are encouraged to inform the authorities immediately.

Additional beings, abilities and flaws may be proposed in character creation. These are just basic and popular ideas that are meant to be a healthy guideline.
Aliens: 50 years ago a large ship sought out safety on Earth. Their home galaxy had been destroyed and the 100,000 or so of them journeyed across the universe seeking a habitable place to call home. Due to the timing of their arrival they are often blamed for The Sickness and discriminated against. The first time a Lux contracted the condition they were immediately segregated to specific areas. They are almost always low class areas.
Abilities: often lies in working with technology. They rarely possess special abilities but almost always have one or two evolutionary developments that assist them.
Flaw: Give off a certain kind of radiation that is non-harmful but easily detectable.
Androids: Servants and slaves made of metal and powered by electricity. They have developed an intelligence all their own and reproduce in the city's underground. Unregistered androids are illegal and so they go through great lengths to look and act as human(or other) as possible.
Abilities: often lie in disguise and stealth. Many androids have the ability to manipulate their basic appearance. They are customizable and often have compartments beneath their skin for hiding items.
Flaw: No emotional range. Sometimes made of metal that can easily be detected.
Clones: Rare in the world because of their illegal creation status, clones used to be created for organ harvesting and to prolong the lives of select human beings. They rarely survive more than 5 years before they need a new body... that is, if they can create one.
Abilities: Self-healing, ability to wake up in a new body if they have one waiting, ability to preserve their memories and live a potential forever.
Flaws: Rapid organ failure at the end of the 5th year. Sun sensitivity due to lack of skin pigment.
Cyborgs: Other beings with a specialized machine attached to them. The body can only handle so much machine before you are no longer human however. Once the being has more than 25% of their body supported or replaced by machines they are classified as a Class B Cyborg and are watched by the government. After reaching 50% they are considered Class A Cyborgs and are illegal and property of the government.
Abilities: Varies depending on the upgrades.
Flaws: You are feared and often denied services and jobs.
Demons: The Biblical Apocalypse came to Earth as it was promised but it happened long before Christ was even born and it took the ancient cities with it. Left in the wake were Demons who now live among us in secret. They like to hold the chains of those in power and are often trying to work their way up in the world.
Abilities: They tend to have magic that manipulates emotion and binds people to their service. Sometimes they have the ability to control darkness and flame and the world around them. They very often can see auras and read minds.
Flaws: True faith repulses them. With the right ritual and their True Name they can be bound to the service of others.
Fae: Nature spirits. They are tortured by the current state of the world and are often wicked and cranky.
Abilities: Anything earthly or nature based is in their domain. They can manipulate the wind, fire, water, and earth. They generally have a faithful animal companion or familiar of some kind.
Flaws: The air is polluted and difficult to manipulate. The earth is covered in buildings and is rarely available. Fire has been replaced with electricity. Animals are few and far between within the city.
The Gifted: The gifted are humans who have developed special abilities or magical abilities. They are most often kidnapped and trained as elite forces to protect The Lux Family.
Abilities: They have developed a couple of abilities or adaptions that are more common in the other intelligent beings on the planet. Sometimes they develop one special and nearly unique ability as well.
Flaws: They are marked as soon as they are identified and chips are placed in them. They are used and abused and are the personal slaves and protectors of the Lux Empire.
The Infected: Once infected you do not live long but you are damn near unstoppable once you are. Not because you are powerful but because you are driven. Though you may be powerful as well. You have a goal and you must complete it. Anything that takes you off the most direct path to your goal upsets you greatly.
Abilities: One or two psychic abilities develop strongly in you. You never need to sleep, eat, or breath even if you crave it unless not doing so interferes with your goal.
Flaws: Abilities only work when taken off your path. You die within days of completing your goal or go mad if you do not.
Vampires: They walk in the day the same as humans, they look the same as humans, but their culture is much different. They live among humans but apart.
Abilities: Manipulation of the mind. Though this is typically specialized to the vampire. Some are stronger and faster. All heal quickly.
Flaws: Light sensitive, thirst for blood, reliance on the human race for survival.
Werewolves: And other werecreatures. They look human but they are half animal and their bodies can shift anywhere in between either shape. They have a tendency to stay out of public eye for fear of persecution and when they are found they are often enslaved for their strengths.
Abilities: 1 animal form and a human one. Quickened healing abilities. Similar physical abilities to the animal they are. Almost always stronger and faster than humans.
Flaws: Must spend time in both of your forms or risk going mad. Prone to excessive anger and violence.
Witches: Anyone who can bend reality with a few words and little mundane assistance. They can point at glass and say "shatter" and it will burst into tiny pieces. In society they are sought out for healing just as often as they are falsely accused of murder and killed. They live in secrecy for the most part and don't share their magic with those they do not trust.
Abilities: Simple magic can be done with a single word or maybe two. More advanced magic may take hours or days.
Flaws: They are born with a marking of some kind. The marking determines something big that the witch can never do. A witch that is born with a candle symbol might never be allowed to use fire or anything that was forged in fire. If they ever try and go against their symbol they grow old and haggard until they make amends.
